The foundation for every mix starts with either a song or a theme, and for Volume 6, it all came to me after seeing an early screening of SUPERMAN. His philosophy in the new movie is, well, maybe in this modern world, kindness is "punk rock." So, between that, and hearing the Teddybear's song "Punk Rocker" play in the end credits, paired with this photo I took while on an LA street art tour with Alisa back in 2018, this batch of songs represents how "Kindness Is F***ing Cool."
I had never heard that Teddybears song! The Iggy Pop version is from a few years ago, but the song itself dates back some 25 years ago, because also by coincidence, I was revisiting the first few movies by Kevin Smith and in 2000's JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK, much to my surprise, that same song came on, only with the lyrics for being about a "Hiphopper." So, that's on this mix too!
Credit where credit is due, I find a lot of cool stuff just by exploring but I also find some of the BEST stuff through friends. Forgotten by The Plot In You track came from Mariely, "Been So Long" came from Ryan Rawlings, Wavves was a Sam Hoyas recommendation. Kill Moi is Ryan Lambert's band and their new album is great! hemwick witch is the new project from the very talented sue esparza and maeby. Nice to have The Lemonheads and Oasis back. New music from Muse, Lord Huron, Cold War Kids, onelinedrawing, Alan Walker, Foo Fighters. I say it every time and I mean it every time, this is my best mix! Enjoy. Be kind.
